Gold medal for Hydrangea Bobo
As part of their Gold Medal Plant program, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) this year awarded gold medals to seven exceptional plant species based on their ease of cultivation, availability and value to nature.
The winners are of great interest to gardeners because of their long flowering period – they flower in several seasons – and their winter hardiness in zones 5 to 7. Among the 2021 winners: our cultivar Hydrangea Bobo, in full Hydrangea paniculata Bobo®. This panicle hydrangea or dwarf panicle hydrangea is, with its 60 to 70 cm, the perfect cultivar for patios or slightly smaller gardens. Its most special characteristics? The early flowering – from June to September – and the very lush flowering period, with a cloud of beautiful white-green cone-shaped flower panicles in June that turn soft pink in autumn. The Hydrangea Bobo likes a spot in half or full sun, is very resistant to wind and is particularly winter hardy. In short: a compact early bloomer with an abundant flowering that is more than worth its gold medal.
