Cloudi
A beautiful addition to the garden: Hydrangea Cloudi. A hydrangea that looks particularly romantic but is just as strong and resistant as the other varieties in our range. This hydrangea is the more than successful result of a species cross between Hydrangea serrata and Hydrangea macrophylla. The budding flowers are white but emerge in soft cloud tones: pastel blue or powder pink. The acidity of the soil determines which of the two it will be. The flattened spherical clusters are sometimes completely filled with sterile flowers and sometimes more loose with fertile flowers. Hydrangea Cloudi reaches 80 to 120 centimetres in height unpruned. In tamed form, it keeps to 60 to 80 cm.This beauty does best in full sun or semi-shade. Attention: in full sun, the soil must be able to retain sufficient moisture in the driest months. The plant tolerates moist soil anyway. We always offer this variety in pots. Planting is therefore possible all year round. Add organic fertiliser for the restart in full soil.
Plant height up to 100cm.
General info
Garden hydrangeas are totally in again! Bestselect is pleased to present four strong and eye-catching toppers: Hydrangea Pinky-Winky, Mega Mindy, Bobo and Cloudi. These four cultivars each have their characteristics to perfectly suit everyone's needs. They all have one thing in common: they are sturdy and strongly built, so the flower panicles do not blow over or lie stretched out on the ground after a heavy rain: strong plants with beautiful flower panicles!
Maintenance
Regularly add some compost around the plant. In March, prune by cutting off the dry flowers until just above the two large buds, which already contain the new flowers. Do you prefer to keep your Hydrangea Cloudi compact? Then cut off half of the branches every spring, and the other half will produce blossom. The following year, cut off the branches that blossomed, and the other half will now get the chance to bloom. If an overnight frost is forecast in April or May, protect the buds with a horticultural fleece.
