General info
Like all other panicle hydrangeas, this select one is virtually disease-free. Even when this panicle hydrangea is not blooming, it has its ornamental value. The branches are burgundy red and contrast beautifully with the dark green leaves. After blooming, the flowers will dry well so that they will remain on the plant in the winter. Snow and frost then conjure up a fine play of lines like Bruges lace. In America, Pinky-Winky is included in the list of Proven Winners . Proven Winners rewards and promotes promising newcomers on the market.
Maintenance
The panicle hydrangea likes a spot in full sun on a soil that is not too dry. Sufficient fertilization every spring guarantees sturdy branches which in turn are capable of producing beautiful flower plumes that can grow up to 50 cm long. In terms of maintenance, it is best to use the pruning shears vigorously at the beginning of March. We prune all sturdy stems about 30 cm above the ground. We remove the thin twigs completely. You don't have to do anything else, after about 4 months an exuberant flowering will be the reward. Hydrangea paniculata Pinky-Winky is a sturdy grower: therefore provide one plant per square meter in group plantings. As a solitary plant in a mixed border, it is better to take a slightly larger place. It is guaranteed to be an eye-catcher in your garden.
