General info
The Escallonia's of Bestselect are strong, evergreen shrubs that give color and structure to your garden in the cold seasons. The Pinky Carpet® is the perfect choice for those looking for a compact, colorful shrub with many garden possibilities.
Maintenance
The Escallonia feels most at home in a well-drained, light soil in a warm and sunny spot in the garden. A spot in partial shade is also no problem. This shrub thrives best in a neutral to slightly acidic soil, but avoid soil that is too rich in lime. Is the plant in poorer soil? Then it is wise to fertilize in the spring with organic fertilizer or artificial fertilizer specifically intended for flowering plants. The Pinky Carpet® is winter-hardy, but it is advisable to plant it in a sheltered spot. It tolerates pruning well, so you can emphasize the ground-covering growth by pruning, or let the plant grow higher without pruning. In any case, pruning ensures a beautiful, dense crop. The best time to prune is early April.
